Dementia Friendly Alexandria

Ensuring that everyone in the community is informed and respectful towards persons with dementia

Providing You with Support

Dementia Friendly Alexandria educates and inspires Alexandria organizations and residents to respond more confidently to the needs of someone with dementia regardless of their relationship to that person. It is affiliated with Dementia Friendly America (DFA), a nationwide collaboration working at the state and local levels to advance dementia friendly communities across the United States. DFA fosters local community transformation using resources and technical assistance designed to equip communities to better support people living with dementia and their care partners. The DFA movement was created in September 2015 following the White House Conference on Aging.
